David joined Bonallack & Bishop in January 2020 after spending 33 years with top 100 firm, Thrings, as a Partner, Head of Dispute Resolution and Head of Training.
He qualified as a solicitor in 1989 and has over 30 years’ experience in commercial litigation and dispute resolution, working for global corporations, small and medium sized businesses and individuals. Since 2016 he has been a Recommended Lawyer in Legal 500.
David completed a Mediator Accreditation course with the ADR Group in May 1997, and has applied those skills in achieving quick and cost effective settlements for clients over many years. He has also conducted a successful Early Neutral Evaluation (ENE) for a Defence Sector client in dispute with the MoD and holds SC clearance sponsored by a client in the Defence Sector.
David is a member of the Professional Negligence Lawyers Association and the Commercial Litigation Association.
Since joining the firm, he has developed an extensive expertise and caseload in contentious probate and trust claims. He regularly advises executors and trustees and beneficiaries as to their obligations and rights. David has advised in a £10m estate as to claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975. He advises as to challenges to a will including undue influence, lack of testamentary capacity and fraudulent calumny. Other claims include trusts of land (TOLATA) and proprietary estoppel.
David is married with two children, and lives in Wiltshire. Outside work David admits to being obsessed with skiing with family and friends. He still plays hockey for Marlborough Hockey Club, and was coach with the club for many years. David has been a school Governor. He is a keen sportsman and swimming is his passion. He enjoys walking his fox red lab in the Wiltshire countryside when he can. He also loves dressing up in period costume for the Goodwood Revival each year and watching the vintage motor sport.
